I think there is good in both versions, from what Ive seen I much prefer the magic system in 8th and would try and incorporate that in 6th7th if possible. I like the idea of big horde armies in principle if the practicalities werent so awful Right now Im collecting vampire counts and one 40 man squad of grace guard would cost me approx 100 pounds which is just ridiculous 2 Reply Share Report Save level 1 3 months ago edited 3 months ago The core rules remained fairly similar between 3-7 edition (5th was almost a 4.1 edition and 7th was almost 6.1 they were very similar). The main changes were with how magic and list building worked and from 3-6th units only had to be 4 models wide. Many people complain about the big nuke spells but they were actually throwbacks to 45th edition and existed to punish people who took those large horde units. It was tempered by the winds of magic being a random roll so there was no guarantee that youd get those spells off. It also continued to refine movement allowing swift reforms and redirecting charges. It wasnt perfect by any means (it was designed to push sales by fielding larger armies). All editions of warhammer have good and bad points and are ultimately fun (unless you face waac players as every edition can be abused too). I actually think playing 7th using the 6th army books is better than 6th, though I prefer 8th to either). The Warhammer armies project and the 9th Age (fan made editions) are also popular in some areas As one of the above said, the best thing is to find out what people play near you and probably go with that. The Wayback link can also be used to find a spot on GWs website from 7th where there were some pdfs you might find useful. As well, take a look at Warhammer: Age of Blood and decide the fate of the Old World with your own Armies 35.6k Members 171 Online Created Jun 22, 2010 Join help Reddit App Reddit coins Reddit premium Reddit gifts about careers press advertise blog Terms Content policy Privacy policy Mod policy Reddit Inc 2021.
